  • Commonwealth Games Baton Relay

    The Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton will be carried across East Lothian on 17 June 2014 and you can nominate a deserving individual as a community baton-bearer.

    Nominated individuals need to meet one or more of the following selection criteria for contributions undertaken within Scotland:

    • Made a positive contribution to the lives of others through community sport
    • Undertaken voluntary work or contributed to schools or youth organisations
    • Contributed towards greater inclusion for disadvantaged or marginalised sectors of the community
    • Been a role model or mentor to youth through sport
    • Displayed a level of individual achievement against the odds
    • Made a significant contribution to their local community

  • Heads-up Crafters! Details of the Garvald Christmas Fair …

    It’s coming up to that time of year again! The Garvald Christmas Fair will be held in Garvald Village Hall on Sunday December 1st 2013 from 12 till 3pm. Tables can be booked as from now. For more details, please click here.

  • Live Music at Garvald Inn on Wednesday evening, 8.30pm

    Carmudgeon will be playing at the Garvald Inn on Wednesday 18th September from 8.30pm.

  • Wine-tasting evening to raise funds for St Mary’s Parish Church in Haddington

    For those of you who enjoyed the Garvald wine-tasting evening, you might be interested in attending a similar event at the Scout Hall in Haddington on Saturday 28 September to raise funds for St Mary’s Parish Church, Haddington. Local wine expert Ian MacPhail will guide guests through a selection of five wines, including one sparkling wine and two Fairtrade varieties, with information and tips on wine regions, grapes and techniques for wine-making. This follows on from his successful night at Garvald Village Hall.
    Tickets cost £10 including wines, food and music, with all profits from the evening going to St Mary’s Parish Church. Contact us here to be put in touch via email with the organiser, Joanne Allen, or call her on 811019 to purchase tickets for the event.

  • Flower Show Teas – helpers and bakers required!

    Are you able to help with the Flower Show Teas?

    Donations of home baking are most welcome! Please bring donations of cakes, cookies, tablet and tray bakes along to the Village Hall on the afternoon of the Flower Show (Saturday 31st August).

    Also, would you or your children be able to help serve teas and clear tables for an hour or so in the afternoon of the Flower Show? Your assistance would be much appreciated. If you have any queries, contact Heidi at 1 Westpoint or use the contact us form.

  • Play park painting

    A quick reminder about the play park spruce up this Saturday, 3rd August. If you can spare an hour or so to help paint the wooden sections of the playground equipment, please come along and lend a hand at 5.00 pm. Please bring a paintbrush, paint will be provided.

  • 2013 GHS Show Schedule now available

    The 2013 Programme for the 62nd GHS Show has been published.

    Have a look through the leaflet and decide which categories of the competition you might like to enter this year. There’s even a new category for you to try: ‘Brewing and Beverages’.

    In the children’s section, we have changed some of the competition classes. Some can be completed ahead of time, should there be a rainy day in the summer holidays… Also, please note that the poem to be used for the 5-8 years handwriting competition is on the Garvald Horticultural Society webpage.

     

  • Jumble sale success

    Many thanks to all who supported the jumble sale on Sunday by providing donations, helping at the event or by buying bargains and lunch on the day. The Hall Committee are delighted to announce that profit this year was a fantastic £722.
