  • Before We Forget – Snow Clearance Questions

    Dear All

You will remember that the idea has been put forward that we put together a gang of volunteers to help clear snow from in front of the homes of people who are too old/infirm to do it themselves. Before the summer arrives and we forget all about this issue, can I ask you to think about the following questions:

    1) Would you be willing to be part of such a group?
    2) Have you needed this sort of help in the past / do you know anyone in the village who does?

Please let me know using the form below, so that I can get a feel for the scope of the challenge and the potential size of the group we might be able to put together.

    Many thanks

    Rufus

    • Sponsored Firewalk Fundraiser for Leuchie House

      Message from Sylvia Wood:

On Friday 7th June, myself, Leigh Thomson, and three other friends will be attempting a sponsored firewalk to raise funds for Leuchie House, North Berwick.  We’d really appreciate it if people would sponsor us.  You can sponsor us via our JustGiving page (www.justgiving.com/HappyFeet). Alternatively, Leigh has a sponsor sheet available.  Thank you.

What a beautiful sunny day for a wedding. Congratulations to the happy couple!

    • Wine Tasting …

It’s a couple of weeks until Garvald’s wine tasting evening – it’s on Saturday 8th June at 7.30pm in the Hall. There will a number of wines to sample, and buy if you like, plus nibbles and some light entertainment. Tickets are £6 each, and are available from Hall committee members. Alternatively, drop us a line and we’ll get them to you. Cheers!!!

    • A huge thank-you …

… from all on the Garvald Village Hall management committee to those who supported yesterday’s plant sale. It was nice to see so many villagers pop in to buy plants, browse crafts and partake in lunch. Profits for the day were actually up year-on-year and we raised a fabulous £397.83! Thanks too to all who helped out – by donating plants, sharing horticultural knowledge or simply pouring tea. It would be impossible to stage such events without willing and able volunteers … Next up is the Jumble Sale on Sunday 16th June. Please keep watching this space for more information.

    • Plant Sale – tomorrow at 12pm!

The rain might stop progress in the garden today, but it can’t tomorrow – as it is the annual village plant sale in the warm dry confines of the village hall. Come along from 12pm and bag some bargains – seedlings, cuttings and plants, as well as gardening equipment and books. Lunch will be served as well. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon?!

    • Plant Sale – addendum

As you know, it is the annual village plant sale this Sunday between 12pm and 3pm. The Hall will be open and staffed to receive donations the day before, Saturday, from 4pm till 6pm. We’re looking for plants, gardening equipment and books, and failing that, cake!!! Many thanks in advance …
