  • Diamond Jubilee Celebrations: 9 days to go …

Glorious weather at last. Let’s just hope it lasts until the long Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend …

With the village celebrations only nine days away, here are some important reminders.

Firstly, crowns. Youngsters are encouraged to wear them on the big day. Make them big or small. But very shiny. There will be prizes for the best.

Secondly, boats. To recreate the Thames Pageant on Papana Water, we need everyone to bring along a boat. Size wise, make them c3″ by 6″. But no motors!

Do not hesitate to drop us a line if you have any queries. But in the meanwhile, happy crafting!

  • A reminder: the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee …

Everyone in Garvald, Morham and their outlying settlements, should now have received an invitation to communal Diamond Jubilee Celebrations on Sunday 3rd June. If not, the flier can be downloaded here.

In order to cater the lunch, we need an idea of numbers in advance. As such, we’re asking people to apply for tickets by the close of play on Sunday 20th May. Could Garvald residents respond to Katy Mowat, and Morham to Hannah Stenhouse. Many thanks in advance.

  • Filming a success…despite the weather!

Filming for the adaptation of Ian Rankin’s novel ‘Doors Open’ went ahead in a very rainy Garvald last Thursday. Most of the filming was done inside the Garvald Inn, with one outdoor scene completed late on in the evening. The production stars Stephen Fry, Douglas Henshall and Lenroa Critchlow and will be shown on ITV.
