  • Hogmanay High Jinx!

    Better late than never, we can formerly announce the details of this year’s Hogmanay ceilidh. Woohoo …

    We’ve secured the services of well known fiddler, Amy Geddes, with a group of fellow musicians. They will be reeling from 8pm until midnight, with the odd break for stovies and sweet treats. Should you want to toast the New Year with a few swallies, please remember to BYOB – the Hall is not licensed. Otherwise, tickets are available from Shirley Walker (830270.) The prices are as follows: £10 for adults; £5 for secondary school age children; £3 for primary; and pre schools go free.

  • Christmas Fair: there’s more …

    Forgot to mention the winner of the *jackpot* Christmas Fair 100 Club draw! The lucky beneficiary is … Avril Blaimire. Well done you!

  • Christmas Fair: many thanks …

    It was a joy to see the Village Hall so busy for yesterday’s Christmas Fair, despite the cold and icy conditions. Many thanks to all those who turned out,  to sell, shop and/or help out. Special mention too to Santa, who managed to fit us into his hectic schedule. What a trooper?! In all, some £320 was raised for the Hall itself – a very nice result …

  • Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday

    Just a final wee reminder about the Garvald Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday.

    Doors open at 12 for you to come and do some relaxed Christmas shopping and enjoy some soup, tea and cake.

    There will be a range of hand-crafted goods for sale including patchwork items, bags, soft toys, Fairtrade/Tearcraft gifts, handbags, noticeboards, scarves, tea cosies, cafetiere cardigans, covered notebooks, knitted flower brooches, arm warmers, lavender bags, jewellery and glassware made from recycled glass. Other stalls will include bric-a-brac, Phoenix cards and Save the Children. Hope to see you there!

  • Nunraw Christmas Dinner …

    Following last week’s gentle reminder, here’s a shouty one …

    <Picks up megaphone>

    If you would like to come to the annual village Christmas dinner, held at Nunraw Abbey Guest House on Thursday 6th December, could you please return your RSVP slip along with cash payment to Katy Mowat by the close of play tomorrow, Friday 30th November? Many thanks in advance!

    <Puts down megaphone. And rubs slightly sore ears>

  • Hogmanay Ceilidh …

    Don’t go making any alternative plans – just because you haven’t heard all the details yet, it doesn’t mean that there wont be a fabulous Hogmanay Ceilidh in the village hall this year!

    Plans are firmly afoot. A band is pretty much organised. And we’re just about to start peeling all those spuds for the stovies … Keep one eye here over the coming days, and all will be revealed. Garvald, you will go to the ball!
