Whilst it would be hard to row (or even canoe) down Papana Water, and the hills out of the village might even challenge Wiggo’s thighs, do remember that the Village Hall has a top of the range ping-pong table for hire! Have a look here for more details. And enjoy …

The rainy season …
I believe they normally call this the “silly season” in mainstream media, when there are few big news items and the bulletins are padded out with non stories. This year, it seems more like the “rainy season.” Will it EVER stop?!
Here we are in-between big village events. The Jubilee already seems an age ago. And it is still over a month until the Flower Show. If you are looking for something to do on these unending wet days, remember there are lots of craft classes at the latter – especially for the youngsters in the village. Use the time to make a model animal (under 5s,) design a miniature garden (5 to 8s and 9 to12s,) or compose a rap (teens.) All the details can be found in the show schedule Best of luck!!!

Thank-you!
Many thanks to all those who came to yesterday’s Jumble Sale, and spent so readily. We raised £700, and counting. An excellent result, given the economic environment … The next big event in the Hall is the Annual Village Show on Saturday 25th August. If you haven’t got a hard copy programme yet, then please do let us know. Otherwise, they can be downloaded here.

Helpers wanted!
The next big Garvald Village Hall fundraiser is fast approaching, the annual Jumble Sale on Sunday 24th June. More details will soon be posted about drop off times for stock. But in the meanwhile, can we appeal for helpers? We need people to man the stalls, and assist in the kitchen. Even an hour of your time would be appreciated. If you think you can help, please drop us a line or speak to a committee member. Many MANY *M*A*N*Y* thanks in advance …

What a swell party?!
Thank-you to everyone who turned out to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee yesterday. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the Orchard for the “formalities.” And after lunch, the play-park was buzzing. So much effort had been put into making crowns and boats, that it was a shame to have to choose winners.
Plenty of people seem to have brought their cameras. If you do have photos which you are happy to share, please send them in. It would be lovely to have a wee commemorative gallery on-line. Keep watching this space …

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations: 1 day to go!
Woohoo! It’s Diamond Jubilee weekend. And Garvald and Morham’s celebrations are only one sleep away …
The party starts in the Orchard at 12pm tomorrow. The church bells will be ringing as a reminder … Don’t forget to bring your crowns and boats. And dress as red, white and blue as possible. If you haven’t got lunch tickets, please bring a picnic and join us. And the pub will be open too!
Until tomorrow then. And no rain dances in the interim!
