On Wednesday 16th (7.00-9.00 pm) in the village hall we are running an information session including a walk-through and a talk about what to do in the event that one of us would need to step in and use the machine. The training is being provided by a fully qualified person.

Please come along if you are free – you never know when it could be required.

Meet the Slumber Sisters. An all-singing trio whose job it is to monitor our dreams and ensure that our night time wanderings remain healthy and safe. Armed with an infinite supply of remedies, they arrive to create dreams that will help us through difficult times.
Eddie soon catches their attention. She might be quiet and reserved by day but at night Eddie’s dreams are increasingly wild, chaotic and sometimes terrifying. It has been like this ever since her gran died. As Eddie’s grief comes out in force at night, the Slumber Sisters decide it is time to intervene. An interactive show that with warm-heart, songs and humour, explores grieving through the eyes of a child.

  • If I were Provost

If I Were Provost… a competition for the Year of Young People

Young people in East Lothian are being asked to get creative and share their ideas on how to make the county a better place for young people, for a competition held as part of the Year of Young People.

The council has launched If I Were Provost – a competition that asks young people what would they do if they were ‘in charge’, how they would improve life for young people in the region, what new policies they might introduce and why.

You may wish to convey your ideas in:

    • A short story
    • A letter to our Provost, John McMillan
    • A poem
    • A diary entry or blog
    • A graphic comic strip
    • Or any creative approach that you think is best!

    There are two categories:

    • category 1 (ages 8 – 13)
    • category 2 (ages 14 – 18)

One winner from each category will be invited to act as a Young Provost alongside Provost John McMillan at a number of events throughout 2018. The winners will also receive a goody bag of gifts from East Lothian tourist attractions. The winning entries, plus a selection of entries received, will be on display at libraries throughout the county during the summer of 2018.

For more information, go to www.eastlothian.gov.uk/provostcompetition

The closing date for entries is Friday 11 May 2018.

  • Time for a Spring clear-out?

Are you interested in doing an ‘Amsterdam King’s Day’ type event in Garvald, where everyone turns out to sell their second-hand wares on the streets, or from their gardens perhaps? Easier than taking it all to the hall and back again if not sold.

Please let Sylvia Wood know, or send a message via the contact form if you are interested. If you have already responded to this message in February, you do not need to respond again. Thank you.

  • Get your tickets before they all go
