Well done to all of the contibutors and prize winners at the show and a big thank you to our judges. Liz Leather has been keeping a record of Flower Show statistics for the past twelve years. This year we had a massive 470 exhibits at the show with 139 entries in the vegetables & fruit category, the highest recorded in the last twelve years.

A special mention goes to the cup and trophy Award Winners:

Many thanks to all those who supported yesterday’s show. It was a really lovely day, despite the blustery weather.

Congratulations to all the winners – you should be very proud given the standard of competition, especially in the youngsters’ categories. And a huge pat on the back to all those who took the trouble to enter, but didn’t quite get placed. Think on, this time next year…!

Needless to say, events like this don’t happen by accident – so thank-you to everyone on the Garvald Horticultural Society committee for their hard work. Thanks to the children and parents who helped on the Teas stall and donated baked goods to sell. Also thank-you to the large number of people to stayed behind at the end of the Show to help tidy up. The GHS will be convening for their AGM on Thursday 10th October at 7.30pm. If you enjoyed the show, and fancy getting more involved, why not join them? There’s generally only one meeting a year and new members are always welcomed – especially young ones with bright ideas!

It’s time to get your competition baking done and decide what you are going to bring in to Saturday’s Flower Show from your homes and gardens… vegetables, flowers, jams and chutneys, cakes, bakes or crafts. The Flower Show programme is available to download from the GHS page.

If you have time, please do bake a cake, tray-bake or some biscuits for the Flower Show Teas and bring them along on the day. And any assistance with helping to tidy up the tables and chairs afterwards would be much appreciated. Thank you.
