2013 GHS Show Schedule now available

The 2013 Programme for the 62nd GHS Show has been published.

Have a look through the leaflet and decide which categories of the competition you might like to enter this year. There’s even a new category for you to try: ‘Brewing and Beverages’.

In the children’s section, we have changed some of the competition classes. Some can be completed ahead of time, should there be a rainy day in the summer holidays… Also, please note that the poem to be used for the 5-8 years handwriting competition is on the Garvald Horticultural Society webpage.

Time to clear out those cupboards, garages and sheds as it’s village jumble sale time again!

The event itself will take place on Sunday 16th June, between noon and 2pm. In addition to   the usual stalls, brunch will be available. Bacon sarnies, yum yum!

The Hall will be open for donations the day before, i.e. Saturday 15th June between noon and 2pm. If you can’t make it then, please contact Vicki Short (830295) or Hazel Clark (830269) for assistance.

Wine Tasting …

It’s a couple of weeks until Garvald’s wine tasting evening – it’s on Saturday 8th June at 7.30pm in the Hall. There will a number of wines to sample, and buy if you like, plus nibbles and some light entertainment. Tickets are £6 each, and are available from Hall committee members. Alternatively, drop us a line and we’ll get them to you. Cheers!!!

Plant Sale – tomorrow at 12pm!

The rain might stop progress in the garden today, but it can’t tomorrow – as it is the annual village plant sale in the warm dry confines of the village hall. Come along from 12pm and bag some bargains – seedlings, cuttings and plants, as well as gardening equipment and books. Lunch will be served as well. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon?!
