Friday 9th May is Film Club Night, and this month the film is “The Room Next Door”. This is the first English language film by Pedro Almodovar, with Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore as the main characters – sounds tasty?. Curry available at The Lanterne Rouge beforehand.
Now that we are starting to get that summer feeling, what better way to get in the groove than with some laid-back jazz in the Village Hall. A great way to raise some funds for the hall.

This Friday, 11th April, the film to be shown at Gifford Film Club is Honeyland – from Macedonia. It tells the story of one of the last wild beekeepers in Europe whose traditional way of life centred on collecting honey from wild bees, is disturbed by the arrival of a noisy and rambunctious family. A delicious pre-film supper is available at the Lanterne Rouge if you want to make a night of it.

Lammermuir Church which includes Yester, Bolton, Saltoun, Humbie, Garvald and Morham is bringing something new to Garvald on Sunday 9th March, 4-6 pm in the Village Hall.
It’s called “Messy Church” and it’s a couple of hours of activities, games (and macaroni cheese) for children and families. The theme is Joseph and his brothers – an opportunity to learn more about those ancient and eternal bible stories, while having fun and sampling the aforementioned macaroni cheese! Just come along – everyone welcome.

“The Holdovers” is a film about a curmudgeonly high school instructor who has to remain on campus over the holidays and forms an unlikely bond with a troubled teenager and the school cook. Doors open at 7.30 pm. Film starts at 8 pm. Even better – you could start the evening off with supper in the Lanterne Rouge.
