PUBlic Philosophy – CHANGE OF DATE

With apologies for the inconvenience, we have had to change the date of the next Public Philosophy meeting at the Garvald Inn (to accommodate a change in the availability of the speakers). We will now meet on Thursday 28th May.

Updated flyer below – soon to appear on a village notice board near you!

At the next PUBlic Philosophy event at our Garvald Inn we ask:

    Who Owns the Clyde?

Discussion led by Louise Welsh (Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow), Jude Barber (Architect and Director at Collective Architecture) and Rowan Cruft (Professor in Philosophy at the University of Stirling).

All welcome! Thursday 28th May, 8pm until 10pm, at our Garvald Inn.

An opportunity to share your thoughts….

You are invited to come along to the Village Hall on Saturday 28th February 12-2 pm, to enjoy a bowl of soup, a slice of bread and to share your thoughts and ideas for events, activities, classes, community groups, ways for people to get involved, fund-raising ideas and anything else you can think of to support the Hall and local community.

Come for a catch-up at any point during the two hour session; make it a quick bite of lunch and time for some hellos, or just pop in to leave a note of your suggestions.

Soup and bread is free but any small donations on the day are welcome. Suggestions can be noted and left anonymously if preferred – paper and pens provided.

PS. There will be options – not just tomato soup!

If you are not able to attend on 28th February but you would like to make a suggestion, please use the contact form below

        Hogmanay Hoolie success

Apologies for the slightly belated post but just a note to say we’re so grateful to everyone who joined us for the Hogmanay Hoolie. There was such an amazing turn out and the ceilidh spirit was in full flow from start to finish. The teenagers brought such great energy to the floor!

The band, Clappy Doo, also fed back to say they had a really brilliant night so we’re delighted to be inviting them back again this December. They would love to share some videos from the night on their social media.  If you don’t want to be included, please let us know so we can make sure everyone is comfortable before posting.

Looking ahead, we’re still seeking volunteers to take on the organising of future Hoolies.  If you’d like to get involved and help keep this great tradition thriving, we’d love to hear from you.  Again you can drop us a line using the email address noted above.

        Thanks again!
