Just to let you know the Jumble Sale raised £520 for the Hall after costs. Many thanks to all those who came along, and also those who helped out …
A message from Sylvia Wood:
A friend from many years ago is collecting old mobile phones. Her son is autistic and if she can collect 165 phones he will get an Ipad that has apps specifically for him to use. I’ve already collected 25 from workmates and friends. She only needs another 25 and she’s reached her target.
Can you help?
Do you have any old phones lying in a drawer somewhere? They don’t have to work and don’t need the charger BUT they must have the battery. Drop them off to me at me at No 2 Council Houses/New Houses (the house by the post box) within the next fortnight and I will send them on to her in Fife.
Some items were left behind after the Red Cross concert and are waiting to be returned to their owners:
- Roasting tray
- Cadbury’s tin
- Pink plastic lunchbox
Please Contact Us or collect them from Anne at Honeysuckle Cottage. Thank you.
A message from Anne Raitt:
Thank you so much for all your support at our Concert on Saturday. It was wonderful to see so many of you at the show and with such support and enormous generosity from the whole community, the children of Garvald raised a fantastic total of £1,120, which will go to the Red Cross in order to help children affected by the Syrian crisis.
I’d like to thank the wonderful audience, those who gave their time to help prepare for the show and all those who donated money, wine and food. Also thanks to the parents, for entrusting me with their children, encouraging them and rehearsing with them. Most of all I want to thank the talented children of Garvald for overcoming their fears and performing in such a professional and entertaining way.
A message from Anne Raitt:
The children in the village are all very brilliant and have worked so hard for the coming concert in Garvald Church (6pm this Saturday). It’s a busy time of year and most things are left to the last minute BUT I wonder if those of you who’d like to come to the performance will make contact soon to book your tickets. We’d like an idea of the numbers; not wishing to run out of wine or nibbles in the Stables afterwards! Please let me know via the Contact Us form or come and see me at Honeysuckle Cottage.
A reminder that the children of Garvald are organising a concert to raise money for the Red Cross, at Garvald Church on Saturday 30th November at 6.00pm, with drinks and nibbles in The Stables afterwards. Any cash donations are most welcome if you are unable to make it to the concert – please deliver to Anne Raitt at Honeysuckle Cottage.
It’s that time of year again… Christmas is coming, so why not do some gift shopping at the Garvald Christmas Fair on Sunday 1st December in the Village Hall, 12 till 3pm. You’ll find a wide variety of crafts and gifts including patchwork, bags, soft toys, handbags, scarves, prints, bric-a-brac, jewellery and home baking. This year, for the first time, Clan Cushions will be here. Plus Phoenix Cards, Fairtrade/Tearcraft gifts, Save the Children and the Haddington Pipe Band are all back again!
Santa will be coming at 1.00pm and there will be a Raffle with a wonderful Christmas hamper up for grabs. If you need stamps for your Christmas cards, Post Office services will be available, too.
When you’ve done your shopping, relax with hot soup or some of our delicious home baking and catch up with your friends!
Come and find some Christmas cheer in Garvald on December 1st – see you there!
Rehearsal dates this weekend:
- On the afternoon of Friday November 22nd the Church will be open and heated for all children who wish to practice.
- A rehearsal will be held on Sunday 24th at 2pm at the Church. All participants should try to attend this if possible. Thank you.
Annie Raitt is looking for someone with a video recorder to come along and film segments of the fund-raising concert on the 30th November.
If you can help please reply to this post or go and knock on her door at Honeysuckle Cottage.
