New Streetlights

You will have noticed that new streetlights were fitted in Garvald on Wednesday. This is to reduce energy costs and improving lighting. The old sodium lamps have been replaced with low wattage LED fittings that direct the light to the floor, providing pools of white light at street level while minimising light pollution. This will also improve public safety with more lights working effectively due to the use of efficient, long-life bulbs.

I do like these new street lights. No longer that dreadful orange, and no longer do they seem to shine upwards to spoil the night skies. They may even solve the flickering problem that beset the east end of the village. I presume the lights are more economical, too. Progress. Well done ELC.
