What a swell party?!

Thank-you to everyone who turned out to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee yesterday. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the Orchard for the “formalities.” And after lunch, the play-park was buzzing. So much effort had been put into making crowns and boats, that it was a shame to have to choose winners.

Plenty of people seem to have brought their cameras. If you do have photos which you are happy to share, please send them in. It would be lovely to have a wee commemorative gallery on-line. Keep watching this space …

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations: 1 day to go!

Woohoo! It’s Diamond Jubilee weekend. And Garvald and Morham’s celebrations are only one sleep away …

The party starts in the Orchard at 12pm tomorrow. The church bells will be ringing as a reminder … Don’t forget to bring your crowns and boats. And dress as red, white and blue as possible. If you haven’t got lunch tickets, please bring a picnic and join us. And the pub will be open too!

Until tomorrow then. And no rain dances in the interim!

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations: 4 days to go …

Have you made your crown yet? And your boat? If not, why not?! Time is tight. And you can’t rush perfection …

Please remember to bring your cameras on the “big day.” It would be really nice to have a record of the event. Maybe we’ll even manage a wee gallery here at www.garvald.org.uk

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations: 6 days to go!

Wow, what weather?! Really hope it lasts until our Jubilee celebrations on Sunday …

Hope you’re all busy making crowns and boats! The event is not specifically “fancy dress,” but feel free to over-do the red, white and blue!

Anyone a dab hand with face paints? We’ve got a kit, and were hoping to adorn cheeks with Saltires or Union Jacks! If you’d like to volunteer to help, please do drop us a line

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations: 9 days to go …

Glorious weather at last. Let’s just hope it lasts until the long Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend …

With the village celebrations only nine days away, here are some important reminders.

Firstly, crowns. Youngsters are encouraged to wear them on the big day. Make them big or small. But very shiny. There will be prizes for the best.

Secondly, boats. To recreate the Thames Pageant on Papana Water, we need everyone to bring along a boat. Size wise, make them c3″ by 6″. But no motors!

Do not hesitate to drop us a line if you have any queries. But in the meanwhile, happy crafting!

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations: 11 days to go … .

Thank-you to everyone who has responded to our invitation to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee with lunch on Sunday 3rd June. There should be a tremendous turn-out. So let’s just hope the sun continues to shine …

Over the next week, we’ll be posting more details about the entertainment and activities here, so please keep logging on!

A reminder: the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee …

Everyone in Garvald, Morham and their outlying settlements, should now have received an invitation to communal Diamond Jubilee Celebrations on Sunday 3rd June. If not, the flier can be downloaded here.

In order to cater the lunch, we need an idea of numbers in advance. As such, we’re asking people to apply for tickets by the close of play on Sunday 20th May. Could Garvald residents respond to Katy Mowat, and Morham to Hannah Stenhouse. Many thanks in advance.
