The film to be shown in Gifford Village Hall on Friday 13th February is “A Complete Unknown” – a great biography of Bob Dylan covering his arrival in New York and breaking onto “The Scene”. As usual doors open at 7.30pm, film starts at 8 pm.

You can invest in an annual membership of the Film club for only £30 – covering 9 films, or a guest membership for one night at £5.

And if you are lucky there might be a couple of spaces left for a pre-film supper at the Lanterne Rouge.

    Christmas Quiz Thanks

Many thanks to those who took part in the charity Christmas quiz on Friday in the Garvald Inn. I’m delighted to advise that due to their generosity we raised £300 which has been donated to the International Rescue Committee as it was offering to triple-match all donations received.

Grateful thanks to Peter & Elaine for hosting the event and donating the prizes, even though they ended up in the winning team with Barry & Meg.

Hopefully fun was had by all!

    Garvald Does Christmas!

So you’ve had the Christmas market, the Christmas feast, the children’s party, more and more lights twinkling every night….

Next it’s the Charity Christmas Quiz in the Garvald Inn on Friday 19th December at 8 pm – raising funds for Gaza relief

And then on Sunday 21st December at 5 pm there will be Carols round the Christmas Tree followed by Mince pies in the pub. Bring any kind of musical instrument you fancy, dress as a  shepherd or an angel if you wish;  Santa hats, reindeer antlers and bells of any kind all welcome.

On Friday 12th December, Gifford Film Club is showing “The Ballad of Wallis Island” – a comedy drama with Tim Key and Carey Mulligan. There might still be a chance to book a pre-film supper at the Lanterne Rouge and then come for a mince pie at the Village Hall with your cuppa before the film.

    What a feast!

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Garvald Christmas Dinner last night and brought their beautiful salads and delicious desserts. And a great job by the turkey team and all helpers.

There are a couple of nice dishes, a velvet bag and purple cardigan waiting to  be collected. Hall will be open at the time of the children’s Christmas Party on Sunday afternoon.

Lots going on…so check these two posters – a highlight is definitely the Nativity service on Sunday 14th December at 10 am in Yester Church and of course the Advent service for Remembering  – for all who have lost loved ones on the same date at 4 pm

Christmas Dinner – plea for salads!

We are HEAVY on desserts so if anybody is swithering and not yet handed in their RSVP, please could you select the salad option.

And if one or two people would care to switch, I think our waistbands (and our dentists) might appreciate it – please let any of the committee know:-
