Garvald Village Show – Saturday 27th August
CALL FOR DONATIONS AND HELP SETTING UP
Its nearly time for the Village Show and we are looking for:
- Donations for the raffle – please bring on the day
- Donations of home baking – including any show entries that didn’t turn out as planned…
- Children (and the odd parent) to do a stint on teas
- Help on Thursday 25th at 7pm to set up the tables and again at the end (many hands make light work)

Staging starts at 7pm on the Friday (not 6pm as in previous years) and Saturday morning from 7.30am – all entries must be in by 10am sharp!

Programme and Seeds
The 2016 Village Show programme is now available on the GHS page (and through letterboxes soon). Not entered before? Now is the time to develop skills in a bit of friendly competition.
Categories this year include still lemonade, lemon drizzle cake, best dressed pet and also ‘grow your own veg’ in the children’s categories: seeds are now available from Jo Robertson (call 830 685 or use the contact form to get in touch).
Please also let us know if you are able to help on the day by donating home baking and/or volunteering children to help with teas!
Gardeners’ Question Time
Stenton Horticultural Society is holding a Gardeners’ Question Time event on Friday 6th May, to be held at Spott Hall.

Garvald Horticultural Society AGM, Wednesday 4th November
The Garvald Horticultural Society/Flower Show AGM will be held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 4th November at 7.30pm. If you have any ideas for next year or would like to help with the 2016 show, please do come along. All are welcome.
Flower Show Thanks
Thank you to everyone who helped set up, worked during the show, served the teas, baked cakes, grew and hand-made and produced exhibits, encouraged their children to take part, brought their pets, tidied up afterwards and to all those who came along just to join in and enjoy the Flower Show. The results can be downloaded from the GHS page and some photos will be added to the gallery later this week. Well done to all category winners and the trophy winners. We hope to see you again next year. And if you enjoyed the show, you are welcome to come to the AGM in October or why not offer your assistance for next year’s show.

Helpers needed
If you can spare a little time today (Thursday), please come down to the hall from 2pm to help set up the tables for the Flower Show. We are short of a couple of our usual helpers so any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Helpers for Flower Show Teas
Just a quick reminder with only a few days to go until the Flower Show…
Donations of home baking are most welcome – please bring them to the village hall kitchen on the morning of the show (Saturday 22nd August).
