The Garvald Emergency Resilience Team are hosting a Resilience Event at Garvald Hall on Saturday 5 September from 9.00am to 1.00pm. This event has been organised by East Lothian Council and will be attended by Resilience Groups from all over East Lothian, Search & Rescue Teams, voluntary organisations, utility companies and a rep from the Met Office, amongst others.
There will be a number of reps from emergency/utility organisations attending this event so please don’t be concerned about their vehicles which will be in the village from just before 9.00am. If at all possible, it would be great if the parking spaces in front of the hall could be left empty to allow some of these vehicles to park there.
Although this is a closed event, if you think that it sounds interesting then it’s not too late to join our Emergency Resilience Team and then you can come along to it! Being part of the team wouldn’t take up much of your time – we catch up on our WhatsApp group rather than have meetings and although we were active over Covid, we thankfully haven’t had to assist with any other emergencies so far. We have run a rescue exercise previously which managed to be both great fun and a great learning experience. We are a friendly, dynamic team and proud to be the first Resilience Group set up in East Lothian.
If you are interested in joining us or want more info, please use the contact form below.
And if you haven’t already, please consider joining the Facebook Group ‘Garvald Community Information Page’ for updates on adverse weather conditions, road closures and other important resilience info that might affect Garvald.
