On the morning of Sunday 22nd September Garvald’s Emergency Resilience Team will be taking part in an Emergency Exercise in Garvald. The Team will undertake a short search of the area around the graveyard and then, together with around 20 members of Borders Search & Rescue Unit, will move the search up to around the Thorters reservoir area. The exercise should be completed by 1.00 pm and Garvald Village Hall will be used as the Control Centre.
Please do not be alarmed at the arrival of the vehicles from the Search & Rescue Unit or the Police – this is a planned exercise designed to test the Emergency Resilience Team and the Search & Rescue Unit and a search will be taking place for a missing adult and child. We will be following proper procedures and, as the safety of our residents and volunteers are taken very seriously, we would be grateful if only the members of the Resilience Team can gather at the Hall, graveyard and Castle Moffat/Thorters area that morning.
We hope that a real missing person search will not need to be take place in the future but it is sensible for the Team to be prepared just in case.
If you would like to join the Emergency Resilience Team and take part in this exercise please contact Penny Short as soon as possible using the form below.
If you would like to help with preparing refreshments for the volunteers at the hall I would be very grateful – please let me know if you can help.
Thanks,
Penny
