Severe Weather Update – Thanks

Huge thanks to Jackie McCreery at Yester Dairy, Alistair Kerr for collecting milk supplies and Davie F for venturing to Haddington for supplies. Thanks also to everyone who is helping out with emergency planning and supporting the village. Fantastic to see the community pulling together so brilliantly.

Garvald village hall is open to anyone who wants a change of scene but will probably close around 4pm. Thanks for your support.

Emergency milk delivery

A delivery of milk has been collected from Yester Dairy. There is a limited number of around sixty 4L bottles at £2 each so if you are down to your last couple of pints please come and get some from the village hall. If you can share it between a couple of households please do so. If you have stocks for the next couple of days, please support us by using your own supplies for now.

Severe Weather Update: Emergency supplies

Message from Penny Short on behalf of Garvald & Morham Community Council:

Hopefully the weather will start to improve over the next few days but please can anyone who needs any help, assistance or emergency supplies let us know via the garvald.org.uk Facebook page or here on the website via the contact form.

Please let us know if anyone with heavy duty 4×4’s can help bring in supplies (if the roads are passable tomorrow).

Also, we will try to arrange an emergency milk delivery from Yester Farm Dairy sometime on Friday or Saturday, subject to road conditions. More details on how to order some milk will be posted here and on Garvald’s Facebook page.

We have a very caring community so I know we will all be checking up on any vulnerable neighbours but if anyone is concerned or needs assistance, please also let us know.

The village hall is Garvald is open from 10am and the Morham Hall is open from 10.30 on Friday if you need to get out of the house for a while.

Snow clearing

A message from Hazel and Doug: Many thanks to the “shovel wielders” of all ages who have cleared snow in Burnside Court from the OAPs at No6!

Garvald village hall open for shelter and socialising, Thursday 1st March

Garvald Village Hall will be open from 10am on Thursday 1st March. Intrepid sledgers can come and shelter during blizzards, children can come and play together, frazzled parents can come for a rest and a cuppa etc. Please bring some games/crafts etc with you. Someone will be there from 10am and we’ll play it by ear from there. All welcome!

Second hand sale?

A message from Sylvia Wood:

Would anyone in the village be interested in doing an ‘Amsterdam King’s Day’ type event in Garvald, where everyone turns out to sell their second-hand wares on the streets, or from their gardens perhaps? Easier than taking it all to the hall and back again if not sold. The village hall could be the refreshment centre? Please let Sylvia know or send a message via the contact form if you are interested.
