Bin Fire – Garvald Village Hall

One of the wheelie bins outside the hall was set alight this evening , Thursday 5th November,  sometime around 7pm .  There was a Drama class in the hall at the time and the children were understandably upset .

Matches in the bin would suggest the fire was started deliberately and the police have been made aware.

    Remembrance Day 2020

    Remembrance Day commemorations are being severely restricted by the Covid 19 regulations.  There will be no public events in our area, although members of the Lieutenancy team will quietly lay wreaths on Sunday morning.

    Halloween in Garvald

    The new guidance from the Scottish Government calls for no knocking on doors for Halloween this year but there will still be a Spooky Trail  through the woods for the kids to enjoy.

    If you would like to contribute to the atmosphere and decorate your house, families can walk through the village and appreciate the spooky sights.  There will also be a “Best Pumpkin” accolade for the most creative jack o’ lantern.

    For those who want to leave a wee treat for kids who come past, please leave bagged or wrapped treats near your gate or door in a way that kids can take one without lots of handling, e.g. hanging on a sweetie tree, clipped to a treat wreath, or set out on a table or large tray.

    Garvald Village Hall Trust AGM

    Due to current Covid-19 restrictions this year’s Village Hall AGM will be held on a virtual basis via Zoom at 7pm on Monday 9th November. Below provides invite details to enable you to attend via your PC, laptop or tablet. There is no special software required. You simply click on the link and input the password provided.       New Window Cleaner in Garvald

      If you registered interest in a new window cleaner – and provided your address – you should hopefully get a visit from Jet Window Cleaning Services, to clean your windows, tomorrow (Friday 25th September).

      Garvald Window Cleaning

      John, who owns the window cleaning company that will start working in Garvald, will visit the village on Friday 25th September to clean windows for all those who responded to the website post (using the contact form) a couple of weeks ago.
      There are a couple of people who did not put their address on the contact form; therefore, either contact the website again with your address or just try to catch John next Friday.
      John has advised that he will charge the first clean on Douglas’ prices but will assess his own charges once he has completed the first clean for each home.
      If clients aren’t available for payment on the day, he will put a slip through the door with his bank details.

      New Garvald Bench

      Sitting Pretty

      You may have noticed that we have a new Bench at the top end of the village. The bench was arranged through the Community Council and paid for by the Crystal Rig Fund. Permission to site the bench was approved by Wemyss & March Estate who own the grass verge that the bench sits on. Please enjoy the view looking down the village after your stroll.
