Jumble Sale Reminder

In case you’ve not seen all the roadside signs, here’s a quick reminder that the Garvald Jumble Sale is this Sunday, 28th June from 12-2pm! Rolls and teas/coffees will be served. Please donate your unwanted items and come and buy some bargains to help us raise money for the Nepal earthquake appeal. Thank you.

Garvald Greetings Cards

“Garvald Greetings Cards” are available from Hazel at 6 Burnside Court. They cost £1 each, and are sold in aid of Hall Funds. There is no message inside, and they are easily adapted to use as a Christmas card for friends at a distance or for those who have Garvald connections.

Collecting old mobile phones for a good cause…

A message from Sylvia Wood:

A friend from many years ago is collecting old mobile phones. Her son is autistic and if she can collect 165 phones he will get an Ipad that has apps specifically for him to use. I’ve already collected 25 from workmates and friends. She only needs another 25 and she’s reached her target.

Can you help?

Do you have any old phones lying in a drawer somewhere? They don’t have to work and don’t need the charger BUT they must have the battery. Drop them off to me at me at No 2 Council Houses/New Houses (the house by the post box) within the next fortnight and I will send them on to her in Fife.

Thanks, Sylvia

Over one thousand pounds raised at the Red Cross concert!

A message from Anne Raitt:

Thank you so much for all your support at our Concert on Saturday. It was wonderful to see so many of you at the show and with such support and enormous generosity from the whole community, the children of Garvald raised a fantastic total of £1,120, which will go to the Red Cross in order to help children affected by the Syrian crisis.

I’d like to thank the wonderful audience, those who gave their time to help prepare for the show and all those who donated money, wine and food. Also thanks to the parents, for entrusting me with their children, encouraging them and rehearsing with them. Most of all I want to thank the talented children of Garvald for overcoming their fears and performing in such a professional and entertaining way.

Thank you!
