There are seven spaces free on the bus taking local residents on the Theatre Trip to Edinburgh on the afternoon of Wednesday 23rd December. If anyone in Garvald would like to use these spare seats to allow a spot of Christmas shopping or a visit to the Christmas markets, then please let Penny Short know. It would only be two hours of shopping time but that may be enough for some! The bus will leave Garvald Inn at 12 and leave Edinburgh at 4.00pm. Thank you.

Grimolda Grizz Witch Extraordinaire is described as “a perfect read for both children and adults” and “a contemporary story from classical fantasy that makes for an adventure like no other.” It is available from Amazon, as both a Kindle download and paperback. Could it be the perfect stocking filler for the wee one in your life? Or the bigger than wee one who is still young at heart?!

East Lothian Aid for Refugees is a non-profit community interest company created to help the refugee crisis in Europe. They are currently collecting donations from all over East Lothian, and fundraising for trips to Calais and further afield with aid. More information can be found on their website.

This type of event does take a bit of organising, and it would be great to know how you feel about it. You will have noticed that new streetlights were fitted in Garvald on Wednesday. This is to reduce energy costs and improving lighting. The old sodium lamps have been replaced with low wattage LED fittings that direct the light to the floor, providing pools of white light at street level while minimising light pollution. This will also improve public safety with more lights working effectively due to the use of efficient, long-life bulbs.
