Garvald & Morham Community Ladies’ Supper – Friday 1st November at 7pm

REMEMBER: it’s perfectly OK to bring something to share which you’ve bought – no pressure to cook anything!

The next Ladies’ Supper will be on Friday 1st November at 7pm in the Garvald Stables. We would love to see some of our neighbours from the wider community come along, too!

Just a wee reminder of what to bring along:

  • A dish to share
  • Cutlery
  • Plate
  • Bowl for pudding
  • Glass
  • Whatever you like to drink
  • Something to serve your dish with

See you there!

    Apples Wanted!

Do you have so many apples you don’t know what to do with them, or know someone who does?
Might you have a juicer we could borrow?
We are making a canny brew (spiced apple drink) for the children’s Halloween party.
Please get in touch via the contact form or feel free to drop apples off at Cappel Cottage, just inside the door, any day before the 31st October.
     Many thanks, from twa witches.

      Rural Support Payments

We will soon be starting our leaflet drop to all households who have not yet applied for the £100 rural support payment.

Save us paper and stepcount by sending in your application now. We would also be grateful if you would share with in your local WhatsApp, email groups or networks. Or maybe you have a neighbour who is not online? We can send you a prntable version to hand to them.

The rural suport fund is available for ALL households in the ward in recognition of extra costs of living rurally. A third of the households in our community have already received their payment.

Rural support for all (£100) – application form here

The leaflet will also include information regarding the contribution for renewables / energy effciency installations.
Low Carbon Community contributions for households – application form here

If you have any trouble with the forms, or would prefer a printable version, please email me at secgmcc@gmail.com for alternative methods.

Both funds are managed by GMCC by application to Crystal Rig Community Windfarm Community Benefit Fund.

We are also looking for volunteers to take some of the leaflets round. Please let me know if you can help.

      Anna, on behalf of GMCC

The Annual Garvald Christmas Dinner – that beloved highlight of the festive calendar – will take place on Thursday 5th December at 7 pm. Please put the date in your diaries now, and look out for the invitations coming through your letter-boxes within the next few weeks.

If there are any teenagers out there who are not studying for prelims that night, or busy with school dances or concerts, and who would like to earn a little bit of extra Christmas cash as they help with serving and washing-up,  please could they contact one of Santa’s angels….

Caroline McGregor, Elaine McMillan, Trudi Cueto, Chiara Brand, Chiara Vaccaro, Gemma Gilmour, Becca Hamilton and Graeme Maxton

And since we fear there are not many teenagers who routinely check the website please could we ask the Mums and Dads to draw this message to their attention.

      Just because you live here!

Just because you live here, that’s the only criteria needed!

We are delighted that nearly 20% of households have now claimed our new rural payment, made available by Garvald and Morham Community Council.
We would love ALL households in the ward to take up this offer. Please click on the link below to find out more.

Also note the Low Carbon grant on offer to all households who install a selection of renewable alternatves or energy efficiency measures anytime since January 2024. Again, more on the link, with links on where to get advice if you are thinking of installing.
