The Core Path from Garvald up to the Donolly Reservoir, accessed by the road up to Garvald Mains, has been upgraded with new gates, a bridge over the burn and the whole path is fenced off from the rest of the cattle field. It’s a bit muddy in sections so wellies or walking boots are required at this time of year, but much of the path has been upgraded with fresh hard-core. The route to the reservoir and back makes an nice hour’s stroll for the whole family, or you can walk all the way to Gifford. More information about the route to Gifford can found in the updated Garvald to Gifford path leaflet.

Amazon Prime
Residents of Garvald have recently been sent a leaflet in the post from Amazon, offering them a free year of Amazon Prime whether you are an existing subscriber or have never tried Amazon Prime before.
Ten villages in the UK have been identified by Amazon as amongst the most frequent Amazon customers over the ten years since it launched its premium service. To celebrate 10 years of Prime, Amazon is giving away the freebie, worth £79, as a thank you to some of its most loyal customers. In Garvald’s rural location it make sense for us to buy online rather than making multiple visits to the shops, and if you use Amazon for online shopping, the offer is worth taking up.
Amazon Prime gives you free one day delivery on items bought from Amazon, unlimited access to TV and movies from Prime Video and access to Prime Music. Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager at Amazon, reported in the news that: “We’re thrilled to be giving Prime membership to these residents, who are some of our most loyal Amazon customers. It’s our pleasure to reward those who are already members with 12 additional months on us, and for those that haven’t yet tried Prime we hope they will enjoy a chance to experience all the great benefits that come with it.”
To access the free year’s subscription, use the unique code (which can only be used once) provided on the leaflet sent out to you by Amazon’s marketing department this week (shown above). If you do not wish to renew the service after your free year, please remember to cancel the subscription just before the year is up. When you sign up you can trigger an email to remind you about the renewal date.

The aim of the project is to eradicate homelessness in Scotland and the target is £4 million pounds. They would be very honoured if any citizens of Garvald and Morham would sponsor them, which you can do via either of the following pages:

Christmas Theatre Trip
To all Garvald and Morham area residents,
Anna Derricourt is organising another Christmas Theatre Trip, subsidised by the Garvald and Morham Community Council.
There are two show options, both starting at 2pm. The Lyceum show is ‘Arabian Nights’ https://lyceum.org.uk/whats-on/production/the-arabian-nights and the Traverse has a brilliant show, ‘Cinderella’ https://www.traverse.co.uk/whats-on/event-detail/1266/cinderella.aspx
Cinderella is a shorter show so there would also be time to add in a visit to the Edinburgh Christmas attractions. Also, there are other events on nearby for under 5s, a Silent Disco (12pm) and Shark in the Park (4pm). The timings don’t work for the planned buses but these events may still be of interest to you.
If you would like to attend, please complete and return the attached form by 3rd November to enable Anna to make the bookings (your tickets are not confirmed until after that).
