Update on Morham Resilience

Firstly, a big thank you to all those who have offered support. We have a great, supportive, community and things are moving quickly so the main thing is that we are connected.  So, to update on where and how to access information and assistance.

General Morham-specific information:
The main information channel for Morham residents will be ‘Morham – We Live Here‘  Facebook group. This is only for residents and will be used for Morham-specific information.
We will not be replacing national advice channels so please continue to refer to Scottish Government, NHS and East Lothian Council for updated information (see below for links).
If you are not happy to be on Facebook, please contact us through the contact form below to make us aware that you are not able to access this loop.

Requests / Offers for specific Assistance:
The assist/risk register is our central record of residents who have opted in to help out or would like us to know they may need extra support. This list is protected and confidential within the Resilience Group, and all data held according to the Data Privacy Policy of Morham Village Hall. We will use this register to create links in response to requests for assistance.

We have contacted a volunteer from this register in many of our housing clusters to ask them to be a point of contact in case our movements are made more limited. Please let us know if you are able to help with this, we are not yet 100% coverage.

Examples of Morham Specific Services you will see on the Facebook group:
– The owner of Lanterne Rouge is a resident and is offering delivery of evening meal from the cafe to those stuck at home as he heads home.

– Johnson’s Fruit and Veg van will visit the car park behind Mainshill Steading on Tuesday at 11am. If you are not currently leaving the house, please let us know as they can make up boxes for doorstep drops.

Obviously things are changing rapidly so please join the group for most up to date information.

Some Coronavirus updates from the Garvald Community Group

    22nd March 2020

I’m sure you are all doing this but:
Assistant Director of Nursing at QE hospital has said they’ve had a message today that the virus seems to be spreading quickly via petrol pumps so they advise you to wear gloves when filling up or use paper towel and bin it straight away. Can you please pass this around anyone you know. Could make a huge difference.
Also keep what you buy to under £30 so you can buy stuff contactless.

Church Services in Garvald and Morham

As you have probably gathered from the news ,there will be no church services in Garvald or Morham for the next few weeks.

However both churches remain open every day and you are more than welcome to visit, enjoy the peace, say a prayer, do some piano practice (or any musical instrument) and appreciate the daffodils.

Friday 20/03/2020: Changes to Bin Collection – East Lothian Council

WASTE and recycling collections across East Lothian will be suspended or reduced from Monday until further notice.

This is due to staff shortages as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
Green and blue recycling boxes will still be emptied on their usual day but, rather than both being emptied at the same time, the green box will be emptied on the first fortnight and the blue box the second fortnight.
There will be no more brown bin collections as these have been suspended until further notice.

Food waste and green bins for non-recyclable waste will still be collected as usual but the council urge that containers are placed out on the morning of collection by 7am.
Where staffing allows, the council will try and honour any special uplift collections that have been booked.
If items have not been collected by 3pm on the booked day, take them off the kerbside and contact the council to arrange an alternative date.
Recycling centres are still open as normal and limits on vans and trailers remain in place; however, some centres may close at short notice.

    Wednesday 18/03/2020: Hello from ADMIN!

The Garvald website is now playing an important role in sharing vital information in relation to the current COVID-19 pandemic. On some days, several new notices are posted.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU SCROLL DOWN TO SEE ALL RELEVANT INFORMATION – some posts can easily be missed as they move down the page with the adding of new posts. I will put the date of posting at the top of every new post from now on.

Stay safe and get in touch if you need support.  🙂

    Volunteers Needed – URGENT

The Garvald Emergency Resilience Team have compiled a list of everyone in our ward so we can regularly check how everyone is coping over the next few months. It is vitally important that we have contact details for at least one person per hamlet, road or area. If you would like to help & would be willing to check regularly on your immediate neighbours (via a note through the door, through social media or by telephone to avoid face-to-face contact) and report back to us then please let us know by responding to me or by contacting any member of the team using the details on the last post. We can then contact you directly to get your details. Thank you for your help.

Garvald Community Facebook Page and Contact Numbers

If you are a Garvald resident please sign up to the Facebook page ‘Garvald Community’ to stay up to date with news. It has been set up for the purpose of providing practical information and support to get our community through this difficult time. It is a private group for Garvald residents only to enable us to share information which will not be passed on to anyone else other than, if necessary, the Council’s Emergency Planning Team. I will moderate this FB page as Co-ordinator of the Garvald Emergency Resilience Team which endeavours to provide help and assistance to our community as much as we can. This is a group made up of local volunteers and is not intended to take the place of professional organisations such as the NHS and Government agencies.
If you need help or assistance and you do not have access to Facebook or the Garvald website please contact any member of the Emergency Resilience Team:
