    Crystal Rig Grants 2018-19

Your Community Council has had a busy year in 2018-2019 and we wanted to update you on what the Crystal Rig Fund has been used for.

Local young people Louisa Stoddart, Isabell Gold, Robin Bellamy and Finlay Hay were supported. Our funding aided them in their competitive sporting and musical achievements and a Raleigh Expedition. Also Heidi Ingram kindly helped the Community Council with GDPR and IT support throughout the year.

    Larger projects helped were:
    • De- Fibrillator for Garvald
    • Woodland Project 2
    • Knox Academy
    • Yester Primary School
    • Haddington Hockey
    • Garvald Fun Day
    • Seed Funding for Garvald Ceilidh
    • Garvald Christmas Party
    • Two picnic benches for the Village Hall
    • Garvald & Morham Theatre Trip – over 80 people from both villages travelled to Edinburgh to see Wendy and Peter Pan and by all accounts the trip was a great success.

As you can see a large and varied amount of projects were given support. In total we approved the allocation of £22,742 last year.

We are currently arranging to purchase an External Defibrillator to be located at Morham Village Hall and provide some support to 1st Gifford Cub Scouts for a Cub camp.

We are looking for any ideas you may have for allocating 2019 funds. We should have a similar amount of money available and any projects that meet the strict criteria will be considered. Please read the information on our funding page. You can also download the application form from there, or contact Philip White for more information.

Sound bath relaxation session – May 2019

There will be a sound bath relaxation session at Garvald village hall on Wednesday 1st May 7-8PM

Relax and rejuvenate to the soothing sound and vibration of quartz crystal singing bowls.

Spaces are limited so please contact Kelly to book your space (sessions not suitable for pregnant ladies or people with pacemakers)

Please bring along a cushion and blanket.

    WHAT IS A SOUND BATH?

Just relax on a mat and let the soothing vibration and sound of crystal singing bowls wash over you.

Using the frequencies of quartz crystal singing bowls and other instruments, this encourages your natural frequencies to respond and rebalance. The cells of your body are massaged through resonance and they are refreshed from negative and unwanted vibrations. You will experience the benefits of a meditative state whilst you are physically and emotionally relaxed and refreshed.

What are the benefits of Sound Therapy?  There are many benefits which may include:

    Deep relaxation
    Improved sleep
    Improved emotional health
    Enhanced self-awareness
    Improved circulation
    Stress reduction
Soothed and harmonised emotions and feelings
    Strengthened immune system

      Bob-a-job new date: Sun 28th Apr 2-5pm

Bob-a-job is rescheduled to this Sunday – 2-5pm.

Some of the primary 7s at Yester Primary School will be knocking on doors in Garvald on Sunday afternoon seeking tidying up tasks, in return for a small donation. This is part of fundraising towards the whole class residential trip away in June. They will be going to the Benmore outdoor learning centre in Argyll, where they will do lots of exciting, adventurous things away from parents and devices. Pupils are doing a variety of fundraising tasks in small groups to contribute to the overall fund. They will be under (loose) parental supervision – the idea being that the kids are doing the task themselves!  All donations very gratefully received.

Any questions – get in touch with Jo or Kathleen via the contact form.
