Summer school scholarship

MBArts is offering a paid scholarship to their summer school. Mary-Beth explains more:

“As someone who works with children daily I am constantly faced with young people that love Drama and the Arts but their parents for whatever reason cannot fund their passion. Equally due to the lack of funding for the Creative Arts in general by the Government, many schools don’t even have the Creative Arts on their syllabus.

I ask myself: What can I do to make a difference? What can I do to help those with a passion have the same opportunities as those who have the financial means to support their dreams?

I wish this problem was easy to fix but it’s not. However, thanks to the generous donations of others as passionate as I am about the Creative Arts, I am able to offer one individual who meets the requirements bellow a Scholarship to attend MBArts Summer School for one FULL WEEK Monday-Friday for free!

I know that many are deserving of this sort of support but even a small step like this can make such a difference to a young person’s life.

Request an application from mb_arts2019@outlook.com and submit it by 5pm on the 21st of June for the recipient to be announced on Monday the 24th of June.”

Climate change consultation

East Lothian Council has developed a Draft East Lothian Climate Change Strategy 2019–2024, for consultation, setting out how we will continue to reduce the carbon emissions that cause global warming, adapt to changes in our climate and improve sustainability. They would like to hear your views on proposals for how the Council, and the wider East Lothian community, including local communities, businesses, organisations and individuals, can tackle climate change.

The Draft Climate Change Strategy sets out how East Lothian Council will tackle climate change locally in East Lothian, and how it will work in partnership to ensure that East Lothian can play its full part in the national and international efforts to reduce carbon emissions. The Strategy sets out the priorities and actions for the Council and the wider East Lothian community to mitigate against and reduce the impacts of climate change.

The public consultation is underway on the draft strategy until 22nd July 2019. You can access the consultation here.

Further information on the consultation on the Draft Climate Change Strategy is available on the East Lothian Council website. Look out for further promotion via the Council’s Twitter and Facebook, or email climatechange@eastlothian.gov.uk for more information.

Christian Aid Week 2019

This week is Christian Aid week so envelopes will appear through your letter-boxes and our collectors will be calling round later to collect any donations.

This video tells you a bit about the work Christian Aid does in some of the poorest countries in the world: Christian Aid video Tenneh’s Story – Christian Aid Week 2019. A short film featuring Nurse Judith and mum Tenneh in Sierra Leone.

Please be as generous as you have in the past, so that collectively we can send some help to those so much less fortunate than ourselves. Thank you.
